Contemporary ballet as a synergic artistic phenomenon: new aspects of genre theory (master`s thesis 2021)

This search reveals two main trends in the ballet of the 20th and 21st centuries: the emergence of new forms and types, and, in parallel with this, the preservation of academic traditions and canons of classical ballet of previous eras. The issues of the formation and development of modern ballet are at the center of modern research in different countries, and as an essential area of ​​musicology, they attract the attention of not only musicologists but also balletologists, choreographers, and performers themselves.Analyzing this problem in general, we can identify two main directions in the development of the genre of modern ballet. The first is a plot-based multi-act ballet, close to the classical canons of the genre. The other is a plotless ballet, which tends to go beyond the genre boundaries.In the work, this problem is considered using the example of eight ballet productions by leading contemporary choreographers.
